Are you going out of town?

We are house/dog sitting in 8 days and I am friggin excited! I cannot wait! I have literally counted down the hours. You may wonder why am I so excited to stay in somebodies house, sleep in someones bed, instead of being in the comfort of my own home (also known as the boat). Well if you are asking yourself that then you do not know me very well and I suggest you start taking notes...stat! For one WHOLE weekend I get to "play house". Here's a short list (be thankful I cut it down) of what makes me look forward to this vacation from the marina:

1. I get to use a full size kitchen instead of our mini fridge/freezer, teeny tiny sinks and a 3 burner stove. Our kitchen is like camping...permanently. Oh and don't forget trying to squeeze by one another (suck it in!) when we are both occupying the kitchen slash living room at the same time. Cause we folks have a living area (using the word 'room' makes it sound bigger than it is and I don't want to lie to you people) and kitchen in ONE!

2. Showering in a full size shower/tub that I could actually take a bath in if I wanted too! Options!! Rather than spending 15 minutes trying to rinse the shampoo out of my hair because the lack of water pressure we have dribbling out of the shower head. And when I say dribble I am being nice to the shower head. It's more like a drool. Makes a girl consider dry shampoo and baby wipes! And unless I want to sit "Indian style" (is it OK to still use that phrase?) a bath is not happening on the boat.

3. The delight I get when I have a variety of chairs and couches to choose from is indescribable. I'm like a kid in a candy store. I'm surrounded by comfiness (is that a word?). Have I died and gone to Heaven? I almost do not know what to do with myself. Do I sit, do I lay down, do I put my feet up? And what comes with the couch? CABLE! The dilemma with cable is I find myself so enamored that I lack the ability to stay focused on one specific channel. Again, I am troubled with all the choices laid out in front of me. On the boat your options are limited in both the seating and TV department. We have a handful of channels that the digital antennae will pick up or we resort to DVD's or the internet. And there's only 1 comfortable place to watch movies. That's in bed. Don't get me wrong. I heart my bed but it's nice to be given options.

I love my dog more than Erin (did I say that out loud?) but I AM  not ashamed to say that I am willing to trade Depot for 48 hours (or longer) to watch another dog or 6 just for a weekend away from the boat. Is there something wrong with me having my mom dog sit Depot while I dog sit another families dogs????

“Indian Style” is SO incredibly passé, the phrase you are looking for is “crisscross applesauce”, I know because my son told me all about it after he started preschool.
